Renholmen exports hit record after major order from Vika Wood

Now it is decided that Renholmen is trusted to deliver a complete green sorting plant to Vika Wood, one of Latvia and Baltic region's largest and fastest growing sawmill. The deal is one of the largest single export orders ever for the Swedish timber handling company, that continue to maintain high occupancy after last autumn's record deal with Holmen Timber. Delivery and commissioning of green sorting and two sticker stackers are scheduled for spring and autumn 2011.

“This is one of our largest single export orders ever. Obviously we are pleased that our products once again are standing strong in international competition, " says Renholmen’s Sales Engineer, Bernt-Ove Andersson.

Vika Wood is one of Latvia's leading and largest sawmill with an annual production of 280 000 m3 of sawn timber and approximately 170 employees. The sawmill was founded 1995 and has since then seen a steady growth curve with periodic investments in buildings and equipment. With new technology from Renholmen, the goal is to increase production and further streamline operations.

“The deal means that we now are getting bigger brand awareness in Europe. Vika Wood is an exciting sawmill on the rise that over the years invested a lot in maintaining a high technical level. That in mind it is of course flattering to now be a part of their journey. The order also means that we ourselves can continue to maintain high occupancy and is a perfect sequel to last years deal with Holmen Timber, “ says Renholmen’s CEO, Gunnar Marklund.

The deal with Vika Wood includes a complete green sorter with two separate sorting lines and two sticker stackers. The investment is one in the multi million range and represents an estimated 70 man-years of work the upcoming year. Installation is set to begin April 2011 with start of production later that fall.

According to Andris Krecers, Vika Wood's Managing Director, the long-term plan is to double the sawmill’s production rate. Keywords for the investment have been to find the product and supplier that best fits into the company's philosophy and way of working.

“This decision is based on a thorough evaluation work, where we carefully have gone through several different options. Renholmen offers the consistently high quality in products and service we need to continue to play a leading role in the European sawmills orchestra, " says Andris Krecers.

“With a well-balanced green sorting plant and new sticker stacker technology, we gain both speed and availability, and can also minimize timber damage for a more efficient and profitable production flow, “ says Andris Krecers.
