Renholmen in record deal with Holmen Timber

- complete green sorting for Scandinavia´s largest sawmill

This is one of Scandinavia’s largest ever deals in the field of green sorting and sticker stacking. The sawmill is planned to be ready to start production by the start of 2011.

“This is the largest single order ever for us at Renholmen, and we are naturally pleased that our products, in the face of international competition, have been deemed to have the qualities that are best suited to the new facility,” says Renholmen’s Sales Manager, Bernt-Ove Andersson.

The sawmill in Braviken is being equipped with a saw line from Linck, and in the long term will have an annual production capacity of 750,000 m3, making it the largest sawmill in Scandinavia.

“Linck lines have an excellent reputation on the market and at the same time place high demands on other sawmill equipment. This naturally makes it even more satisfying that Holmen Timber chose our lumber handling products,” says Bernt-Ove Andersson.

Renholmen will supply two complete sorting lines, one for centre wood and one for side boards, as well as two sticker stackers. The design work will start immediately and it is anticipated that the assembly work will commence in the spring of 2010, with production starting up in January 2011.

Arne Eriksson, who is Holmen Timber’s Project Manager for the Braviken sawmill, explains that there were several factors behind the choice of Renholmen:

“After evaluating the various options on the market, we came to the conclusion that Renholmen’s handling equipment best suits our facility. We obviously want to minimise timber damage, and with Renholmen we are getting a handling solution that is kind to the timber. The equipment creates first-rate packages, and thanks to their sticker stacking solution, the product quality is good after drying.”

According to Arne Eriksson, Renholmen is supplying a facility that is good from both a technical and a working environment perspective.

“A good example of Renholmen’s technical solutions is their buffer solution, which makes it possible to change the direction of the flow in the event of a stoppage in the sorter.  The buffer solution has been successfully integrated in the layout of the installation and increases our potential for a high level of accessibility,” explains Arne Eriksson.
